Mayfield School is a fabulous, outstanding, LA maintained Special School. In January 2019 we moved into a new, purpose-built school on “Campus Whitehaven” and are co-located alongside and share some services with, a good secondary school. Mayfield School is located between the western fells of the Lake District National Park and the Irish Sea, in an area rich with history and yet with affordable housing.
Mayfield accommodates up to 160 pupils with a variety of significant special educational needs and is oversubscribed. We cater for pupils from early years to the sixth form. Our school aspires to be outward facing and research led.
On the retirement of our current Headteacher, the Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inclusive and compassionate leader who will embrace our ethos and values and have the vision to improve still further our innovative learning community. They will be knowledgeable, skilled and experienced, able to inspire and develop our already excellent staff and amazing students. We are exceedingly proud of our school and will appoint a Headteacher who we will induct, train and support to lead us. Indeed, we are committed to developing leadership skills throughout the school and have a strong focus on CPD.
